 DYSART DASH
Our own 10km race takes place this Sunday (June 30th) at 10am. The start
is in Meadlands Drive, a short jog from the clubhouse. Entries are looking
pretty good, with some 260 names already on the list - but surprisingly
only a couple of dozen or so from Ranelagh thus far. I hope a lot of you
are planning to make late entries! All are welcome. If you are planning to
run and haven't yet entered you could save us some time (and yourself £1!)
by sending me an e-mail (mailto:srowland@calorgas.co.uk) by Thursday
afternoon please. I'll hold your number for collection and payment (£5) on
Sunday. If you're not running we can always do with extra helpers so
please contact Alan Hedger (01372 740626) or just come along on the day.
The World Cup final kicks off at 12 noon and I think the serious
fans/drinkers will be gravitating to the Rose of York after the race to
 watch the action.

ALL QUIET ON THE RUNNING FRONT...
Not much to report in the way of results this week, just a few gleanings
from the pages of 'Athletics Weekly': pride of place to Peter Haarer who
made a home-town visit on May 26th and won the Spelthorne 10km by over two
 minutes in an impressive 32.22.
Pete Warren won the over 60s section of the Tesco Ealing 10km on June 16th
in 43.08, while on the same day Marlene Pautard recorded 42.48 for 5th
place in the Epsom 10km. On June 22nd in the Datchet Dash 10km Sarah Seal
and Margaret Auerback were 14th and 20th respectively in 41.06 and 42.23.
Margaret won the over 55s section but Pete Warren found his 42.05 only
good enough for 6th amongst the over 60s.

Further results from the Dorking 10 confirm that our men's team of Marcus
Gohar, Mick Lane and Paul Doyle won the county championship and Marcus
collected an individual gold as first over 40. The women's team of Liz
Kipling, Sarah Seal and Marlene Pautard came within a whisker of emulating
the men, finishing on the same number of points as South London Harriers.
But SLH's third scorer Sue Ashley finished a couple of places ahead of
Marlene and this was sufficient to give them the county golds while our
 girls settle for silver.

 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The club AGM will take place on Wednesday July 10th in the clubhouse at
7.45pm. Please make the effort to attend if at all possible. Reports and
agenda will be distributed shortly, probably accompanied by the latest
 club Gazette.

BRIAN CHARD, who suffered a heart attack while on holiday in Cyprus last
month, writes: "Pleased to be able to let you know that I am back at home
and am resuming work (albeit slowly). I have seen my GP and he advises
that I should resume normal work and exercise over the next couple of
months. The risk period for a re-occurrence of my attack is the first 3-6
months, so I suspect it will be the end of this year before I am doing
 much running".
