ED WHITLOCK TRIUMPHS IN ROTTERDAM MARATHON

74 year-old Ed Whitlock, weighing in at 112 pounds, and the first over 70 ever to break
3 hours in a marathon, today ran 2:58:40 in the Rotterdam Marathon, seeing off the
71 year-old Joop Ruter, who had challenged Ed to a match race within the marathon.

Ruter running on his home ground, finished in 3:12:22

A re-match is scheduled for September 25th in the Totonto Waterfront Marathon, in which Ed last year finished in a record time for an over 70, of 2:54:49.

Many of us were privileged to meet and run with Ed Whitlock last Tuesday evening, when he visited our club, and later received his Club Honours, awarded to him last year.
